AOL has moved away from password recovery. Instead, it offers a password reset option as a more secure approach. AOL has developed easy procedures to do so. They are updated occasionally but generally entail similar steps.
Go to the AOL Mail Sign in page.
Enter your AOL username.
If you don't remember your AOL username, go to the Sign-in Helper page, enter your recovery email address or phone number, then follow the steps to retrieve your username.
Click Next.

Click I forgot my password.

Choose one of the password reset options. Depending on how you set up your account, you might be able to choose your phone number or email address. If you don't have access to any of them, choose I need more options.
Enter the code sent to your phone or recovery email.
Select Create a new password to reset your AOL Mail password. See the tips below for help remembering your password.
Enter the verification code, then select Verify.
Log in to your AOL Mail account using your new password.
