There are times when the company file gets corrupted or the data gets lost permanently. That is the time when the QuickBooks Auto Data Recovery feature helps.

Here are the steps that you need to follow to recover lost data through ADR:

Go to the folder where you can see the company file is stored
2. Make the file extensions visible if needed. For that:

Go to Organize then Folder and then Search options
Click the View tab
Under the Hidden files and folders option, click on Show Hidden Files
3. Open the folder ‘Quickbooks Auto Data Recovery’

4. You will see two files with extension (.qbw.adr) and (.qbw.adr.old)

The 12 hr. Auto Recovery Files (.qbw.adr)
The 24 hr. Auto Recovery Files (.qbw.adr.old)
5. In a new folder, copy the ADR file

6. Rename the ADR file

7. Delete the .adr extension of the file and press Enter

8. Now you need to verify the file

Click on the option file switch to single-user mode
Click on the file again and under utilities, select the ‘verify data’ option.

Its is advised to have a backup of your QuickBooks file to avoid such critical situations. Learn more about QuickBooks Cloud Backup - https://www.apps4rent.com/blog/quickbooks-cloud-backup/
