Tips to troubleshoot Blue Screen Error:
1. If you got error while upgrading to Windows 10:
If you got a blue screen error while upgrading to Windows 10, setup will automatically go back to previous version of windows.
2. After an update was installed:
If you got the error after installation of a particular update or driver then resolving the issue depends on whether you can access your desktop or not.
If you can access the desktop:
Try uninstalling the update that’s causing the error. You might have to uninstall more than one update if you don’t know which particular update is causing the problem.
Follow these steps:
i. Enter View installed updates in the Search box and select View installed updates.
ii. Expand the window to see the install date, and select the update you want to remove.
iii. Select Uninstall.
If removing the update resolve the error then temporarily block the update from automatically installing again.
If you can’t access the desktop:
If you can’t access the desktop and your PC has restarted several times then it will enter automatic repair mode.
After automatic repair, on the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > System Restore.
This option takes your PC back to a point called system restore point, choose the restore point before you experienced the error. It will remove the updates and drivers installed after restore point was made. Your personal file won’t be affected.
If restoring the PC solves the problem then temporarily block the update from automatically installing again.
3. While using your PC:
There is no certain reason for a blue screen error. On older PCs it might have occurred due to hardware malfunctioning.
If this is the case, follow these steps to solve the issue:
i. Check for updates:
Keep your windows up to date as many blue screen errors are resolve if the windows is updated.
Enter Windows Update in the search box, select Windows Update > Check for updates.
ii. Remove new hardware:
Sometimes a new hardware can cause blue screen error. If you have recently added a new hardware then shut down your PC, unplug the new hardware, and restart your PC.
Some more troubleshooting tips to help you resolve blue screen error:
Check that there’s enough space left on the drive where windows is installed. If there is not enough space then free up the drive because it can cause issues like blue screen error, data corruption etc.
Note: Microsoft recommend that you should maintain 100 MB of free space on the drive where windows is installed but we advise you to keep 15% of drive space free all the time.
Scan your computer for viruses and always keep your virus scanning software updated.
Keep updated the drivers for your hardware.
Make sure all internal cables, cards and other components are connected and placed appropriately.
