If you receive an error message 'VIPRE Services is not running' or 'Service is not running or disabled', follow the steps below to resolve the issue:
First, make sure there are no other antivirus or antimalware programs installed on your computer. If there are, please visit our article on How to Remove an Existing Antivirus. Second, you will need to run a Repair Install on VIPRE. To do this, follow the instructions below. Windows XP - Click Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs. Windows Vista/7 - Click Start > Control Panel > Uninstall a Program or Programs and Features. Windows 8 - From the Start Menu (Tiles Screen), type "Control" and a search will come up as you are typing. Click the Control Panel option, then Uninstall a Program or Programs and Features. Windows 10 - From the search bar on the bottom left of the screen, type "Control" and a search will come up as you are typing. Click the Control Panel option, then Uninstall a Program or Programs and Features.
A list of programs should be displayed. Find VIPRE and click Uninstall or Change or Change/Remove to begin the repair.
A prompt will appear asking to Remove or Repair VIPRE. Choose Repair Click the Install button to begin the repair process.
After the repair process, click Finish, then restart the computer if prompted.
